SYNOPSIS

A story ripped straight from today’s headlines, Cemetery Gates tells the story of a genetically altered Tasmanian Devil that is stolen from a research lab. The mutant eventually escapes its liberators and makes a new home in a woodland cemetery, feasting on both the living and the dead.

At the same time, a group of six collegians rent out the cemetery from a shifty grave keeper to make a student film. Love blossoms between the director and his leading lady while stoned crew members and a cast member with a weak bladder bring their “zombie infested reality show” to several screeching halts. Meanwhile, the two scientists responsible for this freak of nature desperately search the local forest for their stolen creation. Their search leads them down a path of mutilated corpses as they continually miss the creature. The scientists also realize that the Tasmanian Devil, being a burrowing marsupial, may have made its way to the abandoned mines beneath the cemetery.

At the same time, the grave keepers’ two idiot sons, who are waiting for the opportune time to rip off the students, discover the monster as well. They devise a plan to simply wait for the cemetery monster to kill off their victims and take the prizes left behind. However, the demon animal has other plans for them. What happens next is an exercise in suspense and fear as one by one the young film makers fall victim to the ravenous creature... except for one, who will soon find that he and the mutated Tasmanian Devil share a startling connection from the past.
